A loan of $850 helped to buy clothing, school uniforms and children's underwear to sell.

María Teodora's story

The "Liberación Femenina" ["Women's Liberation"] communal bank meets every fifteen days in Puerto López, a place surrounded by beautiful beaches and many tourist attractions. Each year, the humpback whales arrive here to breed, an event that attracts many tourists at that time of year.

In this place lives María, who is 22 years old. She is single and lives in her parents' house. She has been in the communal bank since the beginning, and she likes it because with the loans she was able to start her business, which now allows her to earn something on her own.

She is a very hard-working young woman who enjoys getting ahead through her own efforts. She works selling clothing of all kinds. Her sales method is door to door, and she also sells from her home to the customers she knows best. She sells to her customers on credit and collects payments every 15 days. She has dedicated herself to this work for two years, and it is going very well for her.

She will use this loan to buy clothing, school uniforms and children's underwear, to take advantage of the season when classes begin.

Her dream is to have a store where she can sell her merchandise.
