Marline Jazmin's story

The Communal Bank Liberación Femenina meets every other week in Puerto López, a place surrounded by beautiful beaches and tourist attractions. Every year the humpback whales arrive to mate, an event that attracts many tourists at this time of year. Here is where Marline lives. She a 27-year old woman, married and mother of two children aged 12 and 4. Her older son attend school and her husband works in fishing.

Marline is a great housewife and is requesting a loan so that her husband can have the necessary resources to work. He works in fishing and takes a small boat offshore together with other colleagues. They leave in the evening and come back after three days with the products that the sea has provided. Then they give them to the wholesalers so that they can distribute them throughout the province. Her husband has been in this profession since he was very young and this is how he earns a living. He has three people working for him and to whom he pays a salary. He will use this loan to buy nets, strings, fuel and food for when they are offshore.

She has been with the Communal Bank for three years and likes it because its members are very united. Her dream is to have a big boat for his husband.
