A loan of $275 helped to buy carbonated drinks.

Francisca's story

Francisca, 54, is a widow. Thanks to her children’s support she’s been able to recover and continue forward. She lives in her own house with her children, a daughter-in-law and her grandchildren.

Francisca used to be a mere housewife but as a result of her husband’s death she decided to open a business and this is how she started selling carbonated soft-drinks. She works from home. She started the business on her own seeing the need to generate income of her own to cover her expenses. At first, it was difficult because she didn’t know how to run a business but thanks to God and the effort she put into it she was able to move forward and now the business is stable.

Always positive, Francisca is looking to improve her standard of living and with profits earned from beer sales plans to open another business selling ‘salchipapas’ [fried sausages with fried potatoes].

This is her first Kiva loan and she’s grateful for the economic support provided; she also commits to make her payments punctually. She will use the requested 700 soles to buy carbonated drinks like beer, soft-drinks and mineral water.
