A loan of $325 helped to buy fruit.

Jose's story

José, 53, lives with his wife in his own house; they never had children. José Elías works in commerce; he sells refreshments, snacks, fruit, etc. and works from home. He started in this business needing to generate household income and decided to start a business with his wife.

Years ago he worked in agriculture and raising animals but they started to steal his animals and after his father’s death he decided to go in search of better opportunities. He decided to move to a different city and it was difficult adjusting at first but thanks to God and to his efforts and his wife’s support, he was able to move forward.

What he hopes for now is to stock his business and improve its infrastructure so that he can improve his work and offer more things to his customers.

This is José’s first loan with Kiva. He happily comments that he’s very grateful for the economic support received and promises to be punctual with his installment payments.

He’s requested 800 soles that he’ll use to buy fruit, bananas and other products he sells in his business; he will also do some structural improvements to it.
