A loan of $1,050 helped to buy fertilizers for her coffee crop.

Delmin Suyapa's story

Delmin, 30, has four children, two of whom have finished primary school and help with the farm work, such as cutting, cleaning and fertilizing the crops. The third child still attends school and the youngest is four years old. Delmin received a complete first level of primary education thanks to her parents' support but was unable to continue because of a lack of resources. Her parents taught her how to cultivate coffee and she and her husband have been in the business for over seven years. She sells to buyers who visit the area, and to neighbors and close friends. They own their own land which they inherited from her parents and it is two kilometers from their house. They walk to work every day. Delmin is requesting a loan to buy fertilizers for her coffee crop. She wants to provide adequate crop maintenance so her harvest will be 100% productive. Her goal is to expand her plantation so she can generate more income for the family and household. This is so she can fulfill her dream of giving her children the opportunity to continue their education, graduate from high school and then go on to get a university degree.
