A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy food items such as rice and oil to cook food for sale in the eatery she operates.

Sope Samasse Group's story

The Sope Samasse group is composed of five women all of whom work as vendors. They have formed a group together because they live in the same house and are relatives.

The group’s leader, Mrs. Bineta, 35 years old, has been cooking food for sale for over two years. She is married with children. She sells cooked food in the evening, after her house work is done. She starts selling day at 6 PM and ends at 10 PM. Her efforts are rewarded as she manages to save some money and also help cover everyday household needs. Her future plans include opening an eatery along the national highway in order to take better advantage of her food business and attract a larger and more diversified customer base.

In this group: Binta, Hawa, Haby Samba, Aissata, Fatiyel
