A loan of $425 helped to buy stock merchandise for his store.

Marvin Antonio's story

Marvin Antonio, 57, is a single father of three children who are 22, 20 and 13 years of age. The two younger ones are still in his care and attending school. He’s from León, a place located in the western part of the country. Sadly, he was unable to study a university career due to the lack of economic resources. He was forced to start working at a very young age to help with household expenses. He strives daily to provide his children with a better future and to see him dream become reality: that they complete university.

Thanks to his enterprising spirit and his drive to get ahead, his economic activity is selling basic grains, oil, sugar, rice, beans, cereals, soap, detergent, soya, etc. from place to place. He spends about 10 hours daily in this business and does so happily.

The goal of the loan is to invest in working capital to stock his business so that in the not too distant future he will be able to earn higher income. Marvin Antonio is grateful for the support Kiva lenders provide to people of scarce resources and to poor countries like Nicaragua so they can have a dignified way of earning a living.
