A loan of $775 helped to service her vehicles.

Bety's story

Bety, 40, is married and has four children. They all live together in a house of her own where they share their days striving much to attain a better quality of life. Bety works leasing mototaxis. She has two vehicles she was able to buy with savings she gradually amassed from occasional activities. One of the mototaxis is driven by her son while the other is leased out to a driver who comes by her house to start work daily. At the end of each day she receives the agreed-upon payment for the work day. She’s been in this business for five years and does it alone since her spouse does other things. She also sells groceries sometimes. Her work makes it possible for her to do other things during the day. She comments that it wasn’t easy to start this work because of the doubts and fears that assailed her because she didn’t know anything about how vehicles operated and she was unable to find a trustworthy driver too. Gradually, though, she started to overcome this and now does her work very comfortably. She hopes to continue leasing out her vehicles, to increase the size of her fleet and to repair them so that they will function better. On this occasion, she will request 2,000 soles. She’s very happy to know that she can count on having financial support because she’ll feel more sure about making progress with her business. She will use the requested amount to repair the engine on one of the mototaxis that’s having mechanical problems. With the left over she’ll reupholster both vehicles.
