A loan of $1,450 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Mary's story

Mary, age 42, is known for being a hard-working woman. She lives with her husband, Erasmo, and their children. They live in a house made from basic materials, which they bought some years ago.

Starting from the very early hours in the day, she heads to her agricultural land to cut alfalfa, which she will sell at the market in the city. She says that she comes to sell an average of 30 bales of alfalfa. During the dry season she doubles her profits. As a good businesswoman, she also grows potatoes and corn. “These are the products that sell the most,” she says.

This is the reason that she wishes to improve the quality and productivity of her farm land. She wants to do this to be able to sell the food for a better price. She hopes that with the organic fertilizer she will be able to have a better quality and, therefore, mange to achieve her objective.

This is her fourth loan with Kiva. She hopes to firm up her plans with the financial support she will receive. She pledges to make her payments. Mary will use 3,800 soles to buy organic fertilizer to nourish her plants.
