A loan of $775 helped to buy maca and other wholesale ingredients.

Sabina's story

Sabina, who is 36 years old, has 5 children, but she lives with only 3 of them in the house that she inherited from her parents some years ago. For 8 years she has sold breakfasts as a street vendor. Her sales spot is located in front of a private university which is close to her home. She receives help from one of her daughters, who helps her with service. She tends her business in the mornings, and the times for the best sales are while there is a class session. During vacations, it usually goes down, and this is when she looks for other opportunities such as knitting, which she always does on a permanent basis in the afternoons. Sabina has seen the earning power of her income through the businesses that she has, and this is why she has decided to improve her business. This is her fourth loan with Kiva, and so she is grateful for the financial support that she receives, and she also promises to be punctual in making her payments. Sabina will invest the 2000 PEN in the purchase of maca (a local root vegetable) and wholesale ingredients to continue selling breakfasts.
