A loan of $1,500 helped to restart her business selling fruits and vegetables and to build two rooms and a kitchen.

María Catalina's story

María is 36 years old and has five children with her common-law husband. Her parents taught her how to sell fruits and vegetables when she was 12 years old, and she continued in the business. However, she currently isn't working because of a lack of money. She is requesting the loan from Kiva partner Fundación Campo to restart her fruit and vegetable business and to build two rooms and a kitchen. She will purchase fruits and vegetables as well as construction materials, since she has no other way to do it since she doesn't have the money. Once she has the business up and running she will be able to earn income to feed her children and share household expenses with her partner. She hopes to be able to save some money so she can send her children to college.
