Carmen's story

Carmen, who is 46 years old, lives in the city of Cartagena with her husband and their two children, ages 4 and 8. She still remembers that 20th of June in the year 2006, the date on which she began her business of selling food, when she followed the advice of a relative, who gave her the idea of generating income through this activity. Today, her business has grown, and her customers are located around her house, where she has her little restaurant, while she makes her purchases for cash in the public market. Her goal is to expand her business, and for that she needs working capital, which will allow her to increase her production and obtain new customers. Thus she has the dream of prosperity, of giving her children the best education that is possible for her, and for this reason she and her husband strive every day to achieve it. Now she is applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing from Mario Santo Domingo foundation, through which she will buy basic ingredients and supplies, such as groceries and soft drinks, with which she plans to increase her production and generate more income, to fulfill her family dreams.
