A loan of $1,500 helped to change the tarps and buy chairs and tables for her food stall.

Beatriz's story

My name is Beatriz, I am 49 years old, married, and have four children. I have been working in a food stall with my husband for over 20 years. I started selling tacos de guisado (catch all term for prepared meats and vegetables), quesadillas, shrimp soup, and fried fish. 14 years ago we decided to sell birria (a spicy goat stew), and birria soup. I sell birria, by plates or in tacos. When they buy the birria, I give them the soup for free - other places charge extra for the soup. I also sell sodas.

The food stall is located outside of large social housing project were we live. We have a lot of clients, because we are located just in front of the local market. During weekdays I clean and do domestic work for a high income family.

The name of my project is "Tacos de Birria Los Betos" and my slogan is "Clean food and good service".

I want to buy some chairs and change the tarps. By increasing the size of my business, I will be able to sell more and receive more money.

My biggest accomplishment is buying my house and provide stability for my kids. I want to keep growing my business.
