Rubén is 37-years-old and has a son who depends on him since he’s still school age. He lives in Cercado Province in Cochabamba. True to his goals, he reaches them because he’s an auditor. He very much wants to improve. His wife died two years ago due to a brain tumor leaving their very young son in the sole care of his father and leaving a great void in the family.

The reason for the present loan is to be able to repair and remodel his house because it’s quite old and the continuous rains in the city have damaged it quite a bit and because it is a reminder of a goal attained through much sacrifice and effort by the two of them when his wife was still alive.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
