A loan helped to buy wool and fabric.

Esther's story

Esther, 59, is a hardworking woman. She lives with her husband, Francisco, with whom she has three children. They take care of the youngest one in the house which she bought 28 years ago.

From a very young age, she learned to sew and embroider. This training helped her to survive in life. "By selling my crafts, I was able to construct my house and provide for my children," she says. Therefore, today she still makes a living knitting wool sweaters, mainly with recycled wool. In addition to this business, she embroiders traditional skirts from the region, for which she constantly buys fabric. Her embroidery takes about three months and the art takes time, so she needs plenty of investment.

This is her sixth loan with Kiva, and she is grateful for the financial support she has received. She also promises to pay her installments on time. Esther will invest these 3,000 Peruvian soles in the purchase of wool and fabric to continue with her business.
