Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase cloth to use in her shop.

Sopheara's story

Sopheara is 32 years old. She is single and resides with her mother in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia.

She has been running a tailoring shop for more than three years, earning approximately USD 13 daily. Her mother is involved in breeding pigs. She makes an income of $2 each day.

In order to improve her family’s income, Sopheara is requesting a loan of USD 1,200 to purchase cloth to use in her shop. In addition, a part of this money will be used to purchase piglets to breed. By doing so, she would earn more income to support the family.

In the future, Sopheara would like to expand her shop and rebuild her house to make it more convenient for the family.
