Paulina is 51 years old, married and the mother of 10 children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental, where she earns a living by owning and operating a coconut plantation. She has been in this business for more than 10 years and earns 2,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in 2011 and is requesting a loan for 5,000 PHP to buy harvesting equipment. She plans to use the additional revenue generated by her business to improve and expand her farm.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
