Maria Santos's story

María is a tenacious young woman aged 27. She has completed primary school and she is a single mother of 2. She lives in her own house and she strives on a daily basis to grant a better standard of living to her family and to herself. She engages in agriculture, planting vegetables such as potatoes and radish. She has gained a considerable experience while working with her parents, something she has been doing since she was very young, helping them planting corn and beans. She owns some land located at about 100 meters (0,06 mi) from her house, and she inherited it form her parents. She sells her products to buyers coming to her area as well as to her neighbors. She makes efforts and she works very hard in order to grant a better future and a better standard of living to her children, so that they will not have to go through the difficult situations she has had to live when she was young.
María is currently requesting a loan to invest it in the purchase of potato and radish certified seeds, as well as manure to keep on planting and growing her crops.
Her goal is to succeed in having a profitable production that provides her with enough money to keep on planting and to help her achieve her dream of putting together a working capital of her own in order to keep on investing in her crops; this is how she plans on succeeding in granting a better future and comfort to her children, offering them the chance to study and to attend and complete university.
