A loan of $1,200 helped to buy 1,000 pounds of shrimp.

Zelmira Ramona's story

Zelmira Ramona, 28, married, is originally from Chinandega. She has three children that depend on her; one goes to primary school and two to secondary school. Zelmira is a hardworking woman that has been selling seafood (shrimp) for fifteen years. She buys from producers in the areas of Mechapa, Aserradores and Morazan and sometimes from wholesalers that come from the Pacific Coast. Her customers are salespeople from the main marketplace in Chinandega, Leon, Chichigalpa or Managua. When she has enough inventory, she sells to a company called Neptuno. Zelmira also runs small shrimp farms that are about to start their “harvest”. She is requesting a loan to improve her working capital and buy 1000 pounds of shrimp, in order to be able to satisfy the orders her customers have made.
