Bougouni, Mali / Food Production/Sales

A loan of $425 helped to buy condiments.

Djelika's story

Djelika is a married woman who is 31 years old and mother to four children. She lives with her husband and children in the Massablacoura district of Bougouni.

She did not attend school and at an early age began to carry out income-generating activities. She followed in her sister's footsteps and learnt how to buy and sell condiments. She is now an expert in this business with over six years of experience.

She is on her third loan from Soro Yiriwaso and the previous two loans were repaid in full. In order to expand her business she decided to take out another loan from Soro Yiriwaso so that she can buy a carton of tomato puree, six packets of "Maggi" stock cubes, two bags of kitchen salt, 20 kilos of onions and a bucket of groundnut paste.

She gets her supplies from Bougouni's Grand Market and sells her products from home to a diverse customer base. With the help of this loan, she expects to make a monthly profit of 45,000FCFA. With this profit she will help her husband with expenses, pay the interest on her loan and reinvest in her business.
