A loan of $325 helped purchase peanut paste.

Kadia's story

Mrs Kadia is a married woman, 35 years old, and the mother of six children who lives with her husband and their children in the Hérémakono Centre neighborhood of the city of Bougouni. She did not attend school, and from an early age, became involved in income-generating activities. She followed her sister, and both are now involved in the purchase and sales of peanuts. She is now recognized and respected for this activity, which she has been doing for several years. Subsequent to a loan provided by an association of women in her neighborhood, which was successfully reimbursed, she is asking for her first individual loan in order to purchase 400 kg of peanuts. She stocks up in neighboring villages from local farmers, and sell the proucts from her home or at th market, individually or wholesale, and often for credit, to a customer base largely composed of consumers. She hopes this loan will allow her to achieve monthly profits of 30 000 FCFA (approximately 60 USD) that she will use to help her husband take care of the family expenses, to reimburse the loan, and to reinvest in her commercial activity.
