A loan of $675 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Yem's Group's story

Living in a wooden house located in Kampong Cham province’s Ou Reang Ov district, Yem is now 37 years old and married. She has one daughter who is still in school. Yem and her husband are farmers who grow rice as their main business to support the family and they supplement the family’s income by raising pigs. Having been in the business for seventeen years, they are able to make a daily income of 35,000 KHR and manage to save about 17,000 KHR each day.
This is the first loan for Yem with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend on buying pig feeds. She hopes this loan will enable her to extend her rice plantation and also grow her crops healthily to make more income to improve her living conditions.
