A loan helped a member to pay a plowing fee for her rice farm.

Saveth's Group's story

Saveth, a rice cultivator from Thmor Kol district of Battambang province, is 52 years old and a mother of three children. Her two hectares of rice farming land is the main source of her family’s income. She has engaged in rice farming for 30 years and is able to earn up to 39,100 KHR per day.

This is not the first loan for Saveth with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has wisely used her past loans to support the basic needs of her family, especially sufficient daily food for her children. She has also already repaid her past loan successfully. Now, Saveth is leading a group of three. She is asking for a loan of 500,000 KHR, while her first-time co-borrowers are applying for 600,000 KHR each. As the leader, Saveth will spend her loan portion to pay a plowing fee for her rice farm. She hopes to gain a high yield and keep up good progress on improving her lifestyle.
