A loan of $725 helped to replace a henhouse for rearing chickens.

Betty's story

Betty is 39 years old. She is married and has two children who are dependent on her. One of the children helps her with her agricultural activities, while also studying at second level. Her other child is at primary school.
At present she works sowing maize, as well as rearing and selling cattle, and growing red peanuts. Betty’s daily life is marked by sacrifice and exhausting work as she has many activities to attend to.
Her income is not enough to cover her bills for food, health or the education of her children, and therefore it is not enough for her family’s expenses. For this reason, she has decided to request a Kiva loan to replace a henhouse where she rears chickens. She is hoping to increase the income she earns from this activity, and thereby improve her and her family’s quality of life.
