A loan of $3,825 helped a member to buy flour, sugar and oil.

Rosas De Mercedes Group's story

The communal bank “ROSAS DE CASCADA” is starting its second cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the central focus on Cascada. It is made up of eight members and is directed by a board of directors, of which Rosmery is president. The businesses that the members take part in vary and include: selling American clothes, selling baby clothes, sewing overalls, knitting jumpers by hand, making cement, a corner shop, a painter and a blanket weaver. The loan that they will take out will benefit the small business owners. Rosmery is a member and joined Pro Mujer from her own initiative six months ago. At the moment, she has a corner shop, a trade which she learnt from her mother. After learning from her mother, she decided to start her own shop independently. The loan that she will take out will pay for flour, sugar and oil which she will buy in bulk at the markets in the city of El Alto and then sell in her shop. This work allows her to generate resources in order to maintain her home as she is single with one child. When she is asked what part of Pro Mujer she likes best, she answers that she likes the health part.
