A loan of $1,500 helped to buy fertilizer, manure, and supplies for her coffee crops.

Aurelia's story

Aurelia is a 54 year-old woman, hard-working and entrepreneurial, whose parents were poor and could not support her studies past the second grade of primary school due to the area where she lived during her childhood. It was her parents who taught her to work the land, learning to do things such as: clearing the fields, pruning, and fertilization for the coffee plantations.

She is 35 years old, married, and together with her husband has 3 children who live under the same roof. The oldest, 18, is not studying, the second, 15, is the second year of secondary school, and the last, 9, is in the fourth grade of primary school. In the family, they make a living by working off the land, which they thank god for everything and their parents for inheriting them. They are located at a distance of 1.5 kilometers from their home for which they move by foot each day.

Nowadays, she is requesting a loan to help her buy fertilizer, manure, and other supplies. These will help her keep her coffee crops healthy and clean from infestation and disease. Her dream is to be able to make her farm bigger, plant a better variety, and take advantage of the demand of staple foods in the area since, this way, she will be able to generate more income for her children's studies, family expenses, and other things which come up daily.
