A loan of $1,025 helped to stock her business.

Juana Del Socorro's story

Juana is 46 years old, married, and has two children, ages 16 and 8. She is originally from Managua, a place in the central part of Managua. Juana is a hardworking, responsible women with a desire for personal success. She likes to enjoy her children in her spare time and prepare typical dishes for them, such as “indio viejo.” Unfortunately she was not able to complete university education because she had to go to work at an early age.

Thanks to her spirit and desire to get ahead, she sells crystal and things like glass cups, glasses, plates, kitchen utensils, and spices such as pepper, cinnamon, mint, and basil. She does this at one of the local markets. She will use the money from this loan to stock her business so that in the near future she can increase her income. She works 10 hours a day and does it with joy. Juana del Socorro is grateful for the help from the Kiva lenders who make it possible for people from poor countries like Nicaragua to have a means of dignified work.
