A loan of $400 helped to buy merchandise and equipment to begin selling sweets and flavored drinks.

Pedro's story

Pedro, 34, is from the city of San Luis Potosí. He is married to Nora Hilda, with whom he has four children who are studying in primary school. He has been living in Nuevo Laredo for twenty years.

He is applying for a Kiva loan to invest in his business selling sweets and raspas (flavored cold drinks), as they do not have the necessary money to buy merchandise and working equipment. With this business, they will have to sell their products on the street in order to have more clients.

Pedro makes a living by constructing and repairing homes, and his wife, Nora Hilda, works as a cleaner at a school. Pedro can pay back this loan with the salary he earns from his construction work, as his wife's salary goes towards their family and school expenses.

They hope to have their own business, which will bring in more income for the family so that their children have all that is necessary to succeed and triumph.
