Wilber's story

Wilber is 44 years old and lives in the city of Chincha with his wife and children, whom he loves and are his main reason for living. Wilber is friendly, hard-working and enthusiastic and, together with his wife, they put in all their efforts to helping their family move forward. Unfortunately, due to a lack of money and because he had to work from a young age, Wilber was not able to study to become a professional. In his free time, Wilber likes to prepare a delicious “arroz con pollo” (a traditional, Peruvian dish made with chicken and rice) to share with his family.
Through his own initiative, and with a lot of determination and dedication, Wilber works with his business selling items such as beans, Lima beans, lentils and more. He works at a small stall for around ten hours every day and he thinks things are going well for him because of his good prices and because he treats others well.
Wilber is very grateful to Kiva lenders as, thanks to the help provided, he will be able to buy stock in bulk to stock up his business. With more stock, Wilber will be able to tend to more customers and will continue working and putting in the effort to achieve his great dream of expanding his business.
