A loan of $400 helped to buy seeds, fertilizers and soil amendments.

Martina's story

Martina was born in the community of Mika, and she lives in the same community where she was born. (The community of Mika is located in the district of Colquepata, within the province of Paucartambo, in the department of Cusco, Peru.) She is 50 years old, and she is married with five children.

Martina is an enterprising and hard-working woman who works as an artisan. She has a small workshop in her home where she creates weavings. She takes her products to the city of Chichero to sell. However, she also works in agriculture and sells food. She has various plots of land under cultivation where she grows potatoes, corn, barley, beans and other crops.

A group of women in her neighborhood invited her to participate in the “Intipakareq” communal bank because she is a responsible and agreeable person. On this occasion, she needs the loan to buy seeds, fertilizers and soil amendments. She is grateful to everyone for the loan, and she is committed to making her payments punctually.
