A loan of $400 helped to buy small animals such as guinea pigs, chickens and pigs.

Maria Magdalena's story

Maria was born in the Mika community where she still lives (The Mika community is located in the district of Colquepata in the province of Paucartambo, department of Cusco, Perú). She is 26 years old and has a common-law husband and four children. Maria is a hard-working, enterprising woman who earns a living in agriculture and raising small animals. She has cropland where she grows potatoes, barley, corn, and other crops which she sells a few time a week in the cities of Cusco and Huancarani. A group of neighbors invited her to join the communal bank "Intipakareq" because she is a responsible, cheerful person. On this occasion, she is requesting a loan to buy small animals such as guinea pigs, chickens and pigs. She is grateful to everyone for the loan and is committed to paying it back on time.
