A loan of $5,550 helped a member to pay for purchasing two new Jersey cows and for renovating the cattle shed.

Maa Brundabati Self Help Group's story

Maa Brundabati Self Help Group is a group made up of 10 members which are all women living in the same neighborhood. Rubi, the leader of the group, is a 39-year-old lady living with her husband and her son in a small village of Khurda district.

Rubi owns and manages a dairy farm where she has 2 cows; she sells 5 litres of milk per day and earns 3,000 Indian Rupees (INR) per month. She wants to purchase 2 new Jersey cows for her farm as demand for cow's milk is more in the village. She also has a plan to repair her cattle shed and make it big.

She along with her group members has requested a loan amount of 300,000 INR.

In the future she wants to increase her farm and sell more milk products like yogurt, butter etc. She has a dream to give a quality life to her family and save some money for her son's future.
