Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $775 helped to buy more clothes, for example polo shirts, jackets, trousers, shirts and other things.

Maribel's story

Maribel was born in the city of Challabamba and lives in the city where she was born. (The district of Challabamba is located in the Paucartambo province in Cusco, Peru). She is 26 and lives in a common law marriage, from which she has two children.

Maribel is an enterprising and hard-working woman who realised that as her household expenses were rising she would need to open a business. With her partner's help she was able to start a clothing sales business, but as her business began to grow she realised that she needs more capital. As a result, a group of neighbours invited her to joing the communal bank "Virgen de Chanca" where she could loan the money to buy merchandise. At the moment, she needs the loan to buy clothes like polo shirts, jackets, trousers, shirts and other things.

She is grateful to everyone for the loan and she is committed to repaying the loan according to her payment schedule.
