A loan of $400 helped to pay for the paperwork needed to formalize her property rights.

Luz Maria's story

Luz is a 32-year-old woman that lives with her two small children in the city of Cañete, Mala district. She loves them and they are her main motivation in life. Unfortunately, Luz’s beloved husband passed away, and since then Luz struggles to get ahead with her family. Luz could not study at the university because she had to work from an early age to support her parents. During her free time, she likes to listen to music and sometimes she cooks a delicious “rice with chicken” to share with her family.

Luz works every day, with effort and dedication, giving maintenance to a camp for foreigners located in her town. She works approximately 12 hours every day. Luz enjoys what she does and believes that her good performance and her kindness to others are the reasons she does well.

Luz is grateful to Kiva lenders, since thanks to their help she will be able to pay for the documents needed to formalize her property rights over a piece of land her husband left her to build a house. She will continue working and struggling to make her biggest dream come true: to see her children become successful professionals and persons of good character.
