Ada Luz's story

Ada, 38, lives in the city of Pisco with her two small children, who she loves very much and are her main reason for living. She is a very kind, hard-working, enthusiastic person who dedicates all her efforts to providing for her family, since she is both mother and father to her children. Unfortunately, due to a lack of economic resouces and out of necessity, she had to start work at a very young age. She was unable to get a degree in Business Administration as she would have liked. In her free time she enjoys cleaning house and sometimes cooks a delicious "Sopa de Leche" (chicken stew) to share with her family.

On her own initiative and with much tenacity and dedication, Ada works in her small store selling groceries and beverages. The store occupies a small space in her home and she works about 10 hours a day. She believes business is going well because of her low prices and kindness to customers.

Ada is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks their help she can buy larger volumes and variety of merchandise, such as sodas, soft drinks, mineral water, rice, sweets, instant soups, etc. This means her store will be better stocked to serve customers and she will be able to continue working toward her goal of having a more stable home and a better lifestyle for her family.
