A loan of $1,150 helped to hire day laborers.

Maximiliana's story

Maximiliana, 44, is married and has two children, 7 and 10 years old respectively. Maximiliana has worked in the production of organic cacao, turmeric and achiote for the past twenty years.

Through her husbands support she was able to work and convert it into the mainstay for the family economy.

In the beginning, it was difficult to get the desired yield since they did not have working capital needed to hire day laborers, bags of organic fertilizer and nursery seedlings.

With time the price of the products went up which allowed them to gain the needed capital to reach their medium term goals. One of them being constructing their own house.

Working in the field is very rewarding. It has allowed her to maintain her family, giving them what is needed to have a good quality of life.

This is her first Kiva loan. She is very grateful for the opportunity she has been given and is committed to paying her installments on time.

With the 3,000 PEN [$1150] she will hire day laborers so she can start this years harvest season.
