A loan of $1,150 helped to buy compost.

Hipolita's story

Hipólita is 40 years old and has a house built from sturdy materials, where she lives with her two children. She owns some parcels of land where she raises organic cacao and has for 18 years. She began working the different farm tasks with her now deceased husband. She inherited some of the land she owns from her parents, as a reward for the years of work and dedication as a daughter to help support the family. Because organic cacao is a product whose price depends on constant maintenance, she needs capital to hire field hands to provide said maintenance, buy sacks of compost, and pay other production related expenses. She wants to work with the motivation that she is known for and obtain capital that will permit her to buy and sell livestock, given that it is also a business that her parents were involved in and it provided considerable earnings. She wants to support her family in this way. This will be her first loan through Kiva and she is very grateful for the opportunity provided. She is committed to making her payments on time and will use the 3,000 PEN to buy compost for her land.
