A loan of $1,550 helped to buy agricultural products.

Reyna's story

Reyna is married and lives with her only child in her house, which is built out of high-quality materials. After spending a good deal of time growing organic cacao she decided to take a more dynamic and commercial route and sell agricultural products in her community. She's been at it for around 5 years and has managed to get herself known by local producers, from whom she buys and safely stores a variety of products like cacao, coffee, achiote, palillo [turmeric], and barbasco.

She says she really appreciates her work because it's not such a strain but it's not so simple either, in that she has to be in contact with wholesalers in the city to get good prices for the products she'll be selling, which also benefits the local producers. As harvest time for some products approaches, she wants to have financial backing to bring the business along. She hopes to recoup her investment quickly, along with some extra profit. This will be her first Kiva loan and she seems very happy and grateful for the opportunity because she can work with greater ease without neglecting to make payments on time.
