Mariam's story

Mariam was born around 1966 and is married and a mother of four children. She lives with her children at her husband's house in the Massablacoura neighborhood of Bougouni. Not having gone to school, she very quickly got started earning a living.

Mariam first tried selling condiments, and then shoes and fabrics, but without success. Because of this, she decided to learn from her aunt how to sell cereals. She now conducts her business with more than ten years experience and is highly sought after. She makes her sales from home and from a large market in Bougouni.

In order to expand her business, she decided to join Soro Yiriwaso, with whom she is on her sixth loan. All of her previous loans have been correctly repaid. With this loan, she will buy 1 ton of corn, 1 ton of pearl millet, and a half ton of rice. She procures her goods in Bougouni and in the surrounding villages.

With this loan, she hopes to earn an average monthly income of 70,000 francs CFA, which will allow her to support her needs while also helping her husband with the family expenses.
