Mamou's story

Mamou is 55 years old and a mother of eight children. She lives with her husband and children in the Dialanicoro neighborhood of Bougouni. Not having gone to school, she quickly started working to earn a living. She decided to follow her sister and learn how to buy and sell condiments. With an experience of more than five years, she is very sought after and appreciated in the town.

In order to expand her business, she decided to join the micro-finance institution [Soro Yiriwaso]. This is her first loan and she will use it to buy 6 cartons of tomato paste, five boxes of Maggi, 5 sacs of onions, 3 cans of oil, and 10 sacs of iodized kitchen salt. She procures her goods from a large market in Bamako and sells them in a large market in Bougouni.

With this loan, she hopes to earn an average monthly income of 85,000 francs CFA. With these earnings, she hopes to expand her business.
