Esther is 49 years old, married with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a general store in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over seven years and earns 30,000 PHP every month. She joined GDMPC in 2010, and now she has requested a loan of 40,000 PHP to purchase additional products to sell like canned goods, noodles, soap, shampoo, rice and eggs.
Esther plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
