A loan of $1,325 helped to buy cheese.

Ana María's story

The La Sirena communal bank meets every 15 days in the La Sirena neighborhood in the city of Manta. The city is known for its beautiful beaches, which are extremely popular during all seasons of the year. This is because it is a breathtakingly beautiful city with a lot of tourist attractions.

Ana, age 40, lives in this place. She is in a common-law marriage, and they have two children, ages 22 and 11. The younger goes to school. Her husband is a driver and has a vehicle used for school transport, and he is also a salesman.

Ana, as a good wife, is getting the loan for her husband to use in his business. In addition to his transportation business, he also sells cheese. Three times a week he goes to Chone and Tosagua, the cities where he buys the cheese. He later takes the cheese to distribute to the retailers at the local market. He has been engaged in this business for over ten years. Through the business he has gotten his family ahead without them lacking anything.

She will use the new loan to buy cheese. She has been in the communal bank since it began. She likes it because, with the loans, she is able to help her husband and contribute to the household expenses.

Her dream is to buy a newer car.
