A loan of $400 helped to buy ingredients and to repair her site.

Rosa's story

Rosa, 63, is married to Cayo who is a cook and she and he had a son who is now an adult. She currently lives just with her husband in their own house. The activity Rosa carries out is selling food like breakfasts, lunches and others. She started her business in a spacious part of her house. She mainly works in the evening but sometimes also mornings. Her customers are passersby in the area, neighbors and friends. Fortunately, her establishment is well-received thanks to her tasty cooking. She’s been in business about six years. She started this venture with support from her husband and thanks to a loan they got. Now, they work together providing cordial customer service. She likes that her business makes it possible for her to earn income to cover her household expenses because she’s had many economic needs due to the low income she used to get when her husband worked as a cook in a private restaurant. But now she feels more relief because doing her work in her own house is very useful for her. This is her sixth Kiva loan and she’s grateful to all those who make it possible for her to access financing because this way she feels more certain about making progress at work. She will use the requested 1,000 new soles to buy foodstuffs and ingredients to make her dishes and will also do some improvements to her site like repairing the floor and walls; she will also acquire more tables and chairs.
