A loan of $1,400 helped to buy fertiliser and manure, to prepare his land and pay his workers, and to grow corn.

Pedro's story

Pedro is 38 and has a girlfriend. Since he was a small boy he has worked in farming with his grandfather. As the only male in the family (he has 5 sisters), he is solely responsible for supporting his family. At the age of 20, he met his girlfriend but still helped his mother and sisters. He also trades cattle. When he wants to buy farming supplies, he has to travel 10 kilometres, pay for some means of transport to get his purchases home and then pay a cart driver to have them moved to the farm. The loan which he is applying to Fundación Campo for will be used to buy fertiliser and manure, to prepare his land and pay his workers, and to grow corn. He believes that the investment will help him have a good harvest and sell his corn at a good price. This, in turn, will boost his income and enable him to build his own home.
