Rokhaya's Group's story

This group is composed of 5 women who live in the same neighborhood, and all involved in activities related to commerce. Rokhaya is the group representative, and can be seen in the photo with her hand raised. She is 63 years old, a widow, and mother of a 40 year old man. She has been involved in the buying and selling of food products from her home since a very young age. She is asking for a loan in order to reinforce her supplies, by purchasing 150 kg of sugar for 87,000 FCFA, 100 L of oil for 85,000 FCFA, 100 kg of "monkey bread" [a fruit from the Boabab tree] for 48,000 FCFA and 40 boxes of soap for 75,000 FCFA. The remaining amount will go to supplement her working capital. Profits from these activities will allow her to cover her living costs and deposit money in a village savings bank.
