Mayda Antonia's story

In the city of Santa Ana, known for its breathtaking views and its beautiful pools of fresh water which are visited by many tourists, the members of the New Hope Communal Bank meet every 15 days.

In this place lives Mayda, who is 43 years old and married. She and her husband have three children ages 20, 17 and 8, who study in the university, high school, and primary school. Her husband has an oil change and car wash business.

Mayda and her husband work in the family oil change/ car wash business. Her husband is in charge of completing the aforementioned tasks and she works selling the lubricants, oil, tires, and other spare car parts. She works everyday from 8:00am to 6:00pm with the help of two other people, whom they pay a monthly salary. The business has been around for more than forty years since it was the business of her husband's parents and her father-in-law left it to them. This allows them to move forward with the business that is already in the family tradition.

She will use this loan to purchase tires, lubricants, and spare car parts. She has been part of the communal bank for more than 15 years and she enjoys it because of the benefits the organization provides.

Her dream is that her children become professionals.
