A loan of $1,500 helped to buy banana seeds to plant on 7,000 square meters of land.

José Dimas's story

José is 27 years old, married, and has a two-year-old daughter. For the past nine years, he has been growing bananas. His entire family engages in this business. José has plenty of experience since growing bananas requires a great deal of knowledge in how to manage pests.

The farming supplies he needs are obtained at a city that is 18 kilometers from his house. Since there is no transportation, he meets with several other farmers to hire a vehicle to bring in all of their supplies together. This reduces the cost of the trip.

José is requesting a loan from Fundación Campo to buy banana seeds for planting 7,000 square meters of land. He will plant 2,700 seeds to cover 7,000 square meters. With the loan, he will be able to buy the seeds at the right moment. For now, the land has to be plowed and tilled before being left fallow. His plan is to improve his earnings so that he can buy his own land and expand his house. Something else that is very important to him is providing for his daughter’s education.
