A loan of $1,000 helped to buy 12 sacks of fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides, and to pay the rent on 21,000 sq. m. of land for cultivation.

Elvia Yaneth's story

Elvia is 33 years old, lives with her partner, and has three children who are 8, 5 and 3 years old. She has been carrying out her housework and making adobe bricks for 8 years. She has been together with her life partner for 8 years and he is the one who taught her this trade. The couple make their products in the summer because it is difficult to dry them in the winter. Elvia and her partner work in this business because they don't have many options for undertaking another business in order to make income for their family. They acquire the materials that they need in a city which is located 5 kilometers from their home and they need to pay somebody to transport the materials in their vehicle because there is no public transport in their area.

Elvia is requesting a loan from Fundación Campo to buy 12 sacks of fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides. She will also pay the rent on 21,000 sq. m. of land that she will grow crops on. This will enable her to grow her crops according to schedule and she will have the security of knowing that nobody else will take away the land she needs for growing her crops. She will enjoy a good yield which will allow her to build her own home as she currently lives in her in-laws' home and has no privacy. In addition, she would like to provide her children with an education.
