A loan of $2,125 helped a member to repair the motors of boats and to buy spare parts for motors and oil.

Palomas Group's story

Zeferina is a member of a group called “Las Palomas.” She is 47 years old and has a secondary education. She is married to Jorge, who is a mechanic and they have two children, who are now adults.

Zeferina notes that for more than 30 years her husband has been a mechanic. He repairs the motors of boats. She says they decided to open this shop because her community is located on the banks of the Cerro de Oro reservoir where many people fish. In addition, there was no other shop of this kind in their community.

She notes that the shop has done well because it is one of the few shops that exist in the area and many fishermen come to her husband so that he can maintain and repair their boats.

Zeferina is very happy because through this business they have succeeded in helping their family get ahead and in building their house. A loan from the Vision Fund would help them to purchase a variety of replacement parts for motors and oil.

In the future she would like to open a large repair shop in her home.

The group, Las Palomas, is composed of 7 happy and enterprising people besides Zeferina. Her fellow members are:

Martha, who sells snacks
Alejandra, who sells meals
Virginia, who sells snacks
Maria Angelina, who sells perfume
Reynalda, shoe seller
Rosalia, shoe seller

In this group: Martha, Zeferina, Alejandra, Virginia, Maria Angelica, Reynalda, Rosalia
