A loan of $950 helped to buy cosmetics, perfume, talcum powder, and other products.

Asuncion's story

Asunción, 35, is married and has two children, ages 17 and 9. She lives on her mother's land. Asunción's job is selling clothing such as polo shirts, pants, and blouses, and a variety of cosmetics such as perfume, face cream, and body lotion. Her customers are basically her friends, family members, and neighbors, as well as some new customers who always come on recommendation. Sometimes they order in advance; she delivers these the day they arrive. She has been working in this field for four years already. She works alone because her husband has his own income for the household. What she likes about her job is that she has time to do a lot of different things. She also has the independence and the time to go to areas or places where she thinks she can make a sale and acquire new customers. For now she hopes to strengthen her business because it's going well for her. Currently she'll request 2400 soles [PEN]. This is why she's grateful to all the people who make her loan possible so she can continue doing her job with better results. She promises to make her payments punctually. With the amount requested she'll buy large quantities of cosmetics such as perfume, face cream, body lotion, sheets, and accessories so she can continue selling.
